Let there be lights.
Early morning commuters in Langford should pay attention to two new traffic signals set to go into operation on Monday, Jan. 21 at 6:30 a.m.

The new traffic lights, at Jacklin Road and Terlane Avenue, and on Merchant Way near the TD Canada Trust entrance at Westshore Town Centre, are part of improvements required to accommodate new uses at the Belmont Market development currently under construction on the old Belmont Secondary school site, said Michelle Mahovlich, director of engineering fr the City of Langford. The new traffic signals are part of the conditions required for the rezoning, and are paid for by the developer, she added.

The developer, Crombie REIT, said that everyone involved in the project appreciates the city’s work.
“These signal lights will serve our tenants and visitors well as businesses begin to open in the coming weeks and months,” Crombie REIT said in a statement. “We are nearing completion of Phase 1, which includes Thrifty Foods, Scotiabank, Cali Nails, Freshii, Edo Japan, Fatburger and more.”
