New UBC president in Kelowna Wednesday

The person who will replace Stephen Toope at the helm of the B.C's largest university will be introduced in Vancouver and Kelowna Wednesday.

The new president and vice-chancellor of UBC will be introduced to the university’s Okanagan campus Wednesday afternoon.

UBC board of governors chairman John Montalbano will introduce the new president and vice chancellor, whose identity has not been been made public yet, during an event in atrium of the engineering, management and education building  at the UBC Okanagan campus in Kelowna. Earlier in the day, the new president will be introduced at the university’s Vancouver campus.

The new president will replace  Stephen Toope, who is leaving to become the head of the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs.

Toope will leave UBC June 30. He was named the university’s 12th president in 2006 and served two terms. The new president’s four-year term will start  July 1.
