Walk Mission , a new program created by parks, recreation and culture will provide a free and easy way to get the community moving, exploring the community and connect residents to one another.

A Spring/Summer schedule and Fall/Winter schedule of walks will be created for residents to enjoy.

The Spring/Summer schedule kicks off on May 10, which is also national Move for Health Day, at Fraser River Heritage Park.

Walks are offered on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 10 to 11 a.m. They will be led by the certified fitness staff from the district.

Participate can show up at the designated spot five minutes before the start time and join in. Several of the walks are stroller and dog friendly.

Walking regularly is one of the easiest ways to get the recommended 30 to 60 minutes of daily physical activity needed to ensure good health. The Walk Mission Program will help make that goal more attainable and keep you moving and motivated.

Pick up a Walk Mission Program brochure at the Mission Leisure Centre or see the schedule on line at  mission.ca/walk-mission.
