New graffiti markings were reported on a building at 250 10th Ave. on Aug. 22.
Fail-to-stop accident
Officers responded to a two vehicle collision at Merecroft Rd. and Alder St. at 11:22 a.m. on Aug. 24. A vehicle traveling east on Merecroft Rd. failed to yield after stopping at Alder St., and was struck by a northbound vehicle on Alder St. after proceeding into the intersection. The woman driving the vehicle northbound on Alder St. complained of chest pain and was transported to hospital. The driver of the vehicle that failed to yield was ticketed.
Park fight finds concealed weapon
Police responded to a report of people fighting by Penfield Park at 12:25 a.m. on Aug. 25, and saw a man exiting some bushes while on patrol of the area. An officer spoke with the man, who had a bulge in the top of his pants which turned out to be a 12 inch fixed blade knife. The 19 year old Campbell River man, already known to police, was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes. The charges have been forwarded to Crown Counsel.
Afternoon shoplifting
Officers responded to two shoplifting complaints on Aug. 25. The first was at 1:08 p.m. at London Drugs, and the second was at 1:42 p.m. at Save on Foods. The separate crimes both involved adult Campbell River females, and both were charged and compelled to court.
‘N’ driver drinking
Police stopped an ‘N’ driver at 4th Ave. and Cedar St. at 7:13 p.m. on Aug. 25. The class 7 driver smelled of liquor and provided a breath sample into a roadside screening device. He registered as having consumed alcohol and received a 12 hour licence suspension.
Driving on drugs
A man smelled like burned marijuana and admitted to smoking a joint after he was stopped while driving on Birch St. at 8:27 p.m. on Aug. 25. He was issued a 24 hour suspension and his vehicle was impounded.
