“Since retiring from professional hockey and settling permanently in Osoyoos, I have been looking forward to finding a good way to contribute to the community. Thanks to Gord Bamford and all the music and hockey celebs for giving up their time for some great causes,” said co-organizer Primeau, who partnered with the event through Primeau Properties’ Kids Matter Youth Foundation.

The inaugural charity fundraiser, which the Penticton Western News is the official print sponsor, will benefit Spirit of the Game, BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, Make A Wish BC & Yukon and Basics for Babies.

The presenting sponsors, Kubota Canada Ltd and Gerard’s Equipment of Oliver, are teaming up as the title sponsors of the two-day event.

“Kubota Canada is thrilled to be a presenting sponsor for the inaugural South Okanagan Pics & Sticks event in support of the very worthy charities in the South Okanagan region,” said Rob Allison, director, brand for Kubota Canada Ltd. “Together with Gerard’s Equipment, our dealer in the area, we’re looking forward to some great hockey, some great golf and great times with everyone involved.”

The title sponsors join 40 other South Okanagan businesses who have provided more than $60,000 in sponsorship cash and thousands more in service and product donations. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. Becoming a sponsor gives you and your organization tickets to the hockey game, access to spots in the charity golf tournament and seats at the banquet dinner and concert.

The charity game will feature NHL alumni, pitting Edmonton Oiler stars such as Glenn Anderson, Chris Joseph and Marty McSorley against other NHL stars, including Osoyoos native Chuck Kobasew. Also playing will be selected Okanagan minor hockey players.

Off the ice, the players will participate in a scramble tournament at Sonora Dunes Golf Course. Joining them — and performing at the concert — will be Gord Bamford, Aaron Pritchett, Chad Brownlee and Dallas Smith.

Tickets to the charity hockey game, $16 each, can be purchased at local participating businesses, through minor hockey teams, or directly online at www.soec.ca.

There are also spots available for local business people and individuals to play in the charity hockey game. Be sure to check out the sponsorship packages for this opportunity. For more on this event visit gordbamfordfoundation.com.
