This phase of the work will run nightly until 5 a.m. Oct. 4 to Oct. 22, says City of Chilliwack

Night work is part of the next phase of the Vedder Road widening project, City of Chilliwack said in a notice.

Scheduled Oct. 4 to Oct. 22, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., the nighttime road works be the the subject of hand-delivered notices to residents with the dates of when the work is set to start near them.

The night work will take place at several spots along the Vedder corridor and motorists are asked to expect delays.

The improvements by the contractor Eurovia along Vedder Road include road-widening to four lanes, a centre turning-lane, bike lanes, sidewalks and streetlights on both sides of the corridor, along with the relocation of the overhead BC Hydro cables underground.

The widening of Vedder Road is part of a larger $15-million package of works including Promontory Road widening from Vedder Elementary east to Chester Drive, and the upgrade of Prest Road from Highway #1 to McGuire Road.

Substantial completion is expected by 2022.

Automated message board signs will advise of dates and times for the work.
