Nine council candidates makes it an election

Three more candidates for Revelstoke city council makes it nine candidates vying for six council seats.

Three new candidates for Revelstoke city council makes it nine candidates vying for six council seats, meaning they will have to earn their position in an election.

Newcomers Murray Velitchko, Gary Starling and Rick Hodgson filed their nomination papers today. The Times Review will be making contact each one to learn more about them.

To the Times Review‘s knowledge, Velitchko has not been involved with city committees or city politics over the past several years.

Hodgson is listed as having been elected elsewhere but the listing online does not indicate where.

Starling is listed as the secretary treasure and legislative representative for the local rail workers union.

Candidates have until 4 p.m. today to file nomination papers. The Times Review will update the story after the official deadline.
