Nisga’a Nation reverts to phase one pandemic restrictions

Tightening of precautions follows discovery of positive case in Terrace

The Nisga’a Nation has reverted to phase one of its pandemic safety plan after receiving confirmation that someone in the Terrace area tested positive for COVID-19.

The infected person is self-isolating and is being monitored, according to a news release from the Nisga’a Lisisms Government.

Travel to and from Nisga’a territory is restricted, as is travel between the four Nisga’a villages. Checkpoints have been set up. Social distancing and masks are mandatory in all public areas and social gatherings have been prohibited.

The restrictions will be in place until at least Dec. 4, which is two weeks after the restrictions were announced on Nov. 20.
