Mission residents will be riding a new bus into Maple Ridge starting Monday as the No. 701 replaces the coach-style TrainBus, which followed the West Coast Express route in off hours.
TransLink is cancelling the TrainBus on Dec. 30, as part of changes brought in with the arrival of the Evergreen SkyTrain extension to Coquitlam.
However, the 701 will not follow the exact route of the former TrainBus service.
Instead, the 701 will run from Coquitlam Central Station, then turn south into Pitt Meadows and stop at the Pitt Meadows and Maple Meadows West Coast Express stations.
It then follows Dewdney Trunk Road to Haney Place Mall and from there heads east to Mission City Station.
The 701 service frequency to Mission though will be greater than that for TrainBus.
Maple Ridge users of the 701 won’t see any change in schedule or frequency.
The buses that run to Mission will be in addition to those that serve Maple Ridge, so 701 service frequencies from Maple Ridge will not change.
