A blazing bus-stop bench brought fire crews to South Surrey Wednesday morning.

Assistant fire Chief Chris Keon said firefighters were dispatched to 152 Street and King George Boulevard just after 5:30 a.m., following a report from a Coast Mountain Bus employee.

No one was injured and the flames were quickly extinguished.

“It wasn’t much of a fire,” Keon said, noting similar incidents occur routinely throughout the city.

Keon would not speculate on the cause of Wednesday’s fire, but did say it is not under investigation.
