The past week’s heat waves claimed no lives in Agassiz-Harrison, according to local RCMP.

Agassiz RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Mike Sargent said police responded to at least one report of an animal left inside a vehicle in the heat.

The province continues to grapple with the effects of record hot and dry weather. In Agassiz, all-time records were shattered twice in one week, the new all-time high reaching 41.1 C on Monday, June 28. Just before noon on June 28, the record June 28 temperature set in 1895 was broken when temperatures rose past 33.3 C. Within the final week of June, two all-time records and four daily records were broken as a result of the heat wave.
