The BC CDC is reporting no new cases in the Golden area for the week of June 13 to 19, the third straight week without a reported new case.
The rest of the Elk Valley is not so fortunate, as directly south, Invermere has become a provincial hotspot with 21 new cases in the last week. This puts them at a daily rate of over 20 cases per population of 100,000, the highest rate of infection in the province.
Cranbrook registered 10 new cases and Fernie 19, both putting them amongst the highest rates of infection in the province as well.
Despite this, the BC CDC says that case rates are declining in all HAs, and provincially cases are back to September 2020 levels. Test positivity also continues to decline, sitting at approxiately 3.7 per cent provincially for publicly funded tests and 2.7 per cent for all tests.
Kimberley registered just two cases and across Rogers Pass, Revelstoke saw just one new cases during the week.
The BC CDC is also reporting 78 per cent vaccine coverage in Golden for those aged 12+, 79 per cent for those 18+ and 83 per cent for those 50+.

Invermere is reporting 78 per cent for those 12+, 80 in those 18+ and 86 per cent in those 50+ for the first dose. The surge in cases there is a reminder that while one dose is effective at slowing spread and decreasing hospitalizations, full immunity does not kick in until the second dose and that you are still susceptible to infection and transmission with one dose.
Second dose appointments are being booked following the same order of priority from the first dose roll-out. Those who have already received their first dose can book an appointment approximately eight weeks after their initial dose.
Provincially, the BC CDC says that about 25 per cent of adults 50+ have received their second dose.
