There are no new cases of COVID-19 reported in the Golden area for the week of February 14-20, according to the BC CDC.
It’s the second time in three weeks with no new cases in the area. Up to Feb. 20, only one new case of COVID-19 has been reported in the Golden area, coming in the week of Feb. 7-13.
Cases continue to decline in the Elk Valley and in Interior Health, with only one new case in Fernie after their cluster was declared over on Feb. 19.
The cluster at Big White, which was declared on Dec. 15, has also reportedly been contained according to Interior Health.
Kimberley and Cranbrook area each reporter two and six cases, respectively.

Revelstoke’s numbers went down, dropping from 22 new cases in a week to only four new cases in the region.
Cases are declining in the Northern Health region as well.
Provincially, numbers have increased over the past week, with increased percentage test positivity and rolling seven day average numbers.
Vaccinations are expected to ramp up as we head into March, with the Physicians of Golden saying in their Feb.23 that more information on the rollout in Golden is expected to be made available shortly.
“The major focus at present is on the vaccine rollout,” read the update.
Seniors 80 and over living in the community will be notified in the next 2 weeks about how to book an appointment for vaccination.
“It is difficult to balance hope for a safer world with the realities of the restrictions that are still so necessary,” wrote the physicians.
“As the days lengthen and spring approaches it is a good time to focus on the future. This will end, and we are holding our own. Keep being careful and we will all get through this together.”
