The morning commute through Langley Tuesday included an unusual scene – a semi truck with its tractor hanging off an overpass on the TransCanada Highway at 202nd Street at about 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 27.

A dump truck was eastbound on Highway 1 when it lost control.

“The pup trailer ended up striking the overpass,” explained Cpl. Ronda McEwen, of Port Mann Traffic Services.

The trailer went over the side of the overpass.

The driver was not injured but was taken to be checked at the hospital.

The RCMP’s Port Mann Traffic section is overseeing the incident as emergency crews worked to resolve the crash.

The TransCanada passes over 202nd Street and its roundabout which were blocked off. McEwen said Highway 1 was also closed eastbound and engineers were on scene to assess the overpass and figure out how to safely remove the vehicle.

Because of the road closures throughout the morning, traffic was snarled in the area.

TransLink sent out word that its buses that use that area near the Carvolth Transit Hub are impacted temporarily.
