Here’s a chance to give a shout out to a woman you admire – but do it soon.
The Its All About Women Conference and Exhibition takes place Jan. 28 and will celebrate women and their contributions to the community but the deadline to nominate is Friday, Dec. 16.
“I realize this is a busy time of year, however I’m asking you to take a moment to reflect back over the past year and see if you recall a special woman in your midst, who has made a difference in our community,” says Coralie Tolley, founder and chair of the popular conference. “Perhaps she was a business owner; a volunteer or a young woman who went out of her way to help.”
Nominations can be made in three categories:
Outstanding Woman in Business Award recognizes a woman who is acknowledged in her field for her professional leadership. She is committed to excellence, creates and inspires a positive work environment and influences and motivates positive change in her profession.
Last year, the award went to Louise Wallace.
The Kay Braby Community Spirit Award recognizes an outstanding woman who inspires and mentors others through involvement in voluntary community programs or organizations, or philanthropic endeavours.
The 2011 recipient was June Griswold.
Young Woman of Excellence Award recognizes an outstanding young woman between 18 and 29, respected and admired for her leadership, achievements and contribution to her school, workplace and/or community and is a positive influence on her peers.
The 2011 recipient was Charmaine Chard.
To nominate someone, go to www.itsallaboutwomen.ca and click on women of distinction.
Download the nomination form and let the nominee know of your plans. Both the nominee and the nominator are required to sign the nomination form. Nominees are also required to be present at the Its All About Women Gala on the evening of Jan. 28.
“Let as many folks as possible know about this to ensure those noteworthy women within the Shuswap area get the recognition they so richly deserve,” says Tolley. “Don’t hesitate, nominate.”
