Thousands of Okanagan Landing residents are close to having a water quality advisory lifted.
On Monday, the North Okanagan Regional District initiated an advisory to 1,100 addresses from the 4700 block of Okanagan Landing Road to Peters Road after a water main break. There was concerns that turbidity may lead to some water-borne illnesses.
“The first test passed and the second test results were coming back Thursday afternoon,” said Arnold Badke, engineering general manager.
“We expect it to be good but if not, we will have to wait another 48 hours for another test. But we expect the advisory to be taken off today.”
A decision on rescinding the alert had not been made by press time.
As part of the advisory, children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems should be careful when ingesting water.
For these customers, water should be boiled for one minute for drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice, and brushing teeth.
