The purpose of the crime beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. It is submitted weekly by the Delta Police Department.

The following are some of the calls Delta Police responded to in the previous week:
• Dec. 5, 7:10 p.m., 8900-block Mitchell Way: Complainant reported that sometime overnight someone had stolen two items from their residence. The rear door of the residence had been left unlocked. The investigation is still ongoing.
• Dec. 6, 9:12 a.m., 1500-block Cliveden Ave.: A business reported that sometime overnight the cage holding propane tanks was broken into and six propane tanks valued at $600 were stolen. A vehicle was also entered and booster cables valued at $49 were stolen.
• Dec. 7, 2:22 p.m., 1300-block Cliveden Ave.: A business reported the theft of batteries valued at $600 from a rented vehicle parked in the parking lot.
• Dec. 7, 3:29 p.m., 11400-block 81A Ave.: Complainant reported their vehicle parked in their driveway was broken into. No damage was done to the vehicle. The complainant indicated the vehicle was locked and the break-in occurred sometime overnight. Small items and change were stolen.
• Dec. 7, 4:09 p.m., 11400-block 81A Ave.: While police were investigating the previous incident, a complainant reported their vehicle had been broken into sometime overnight. No damage was done to the vehicle and nothing stolen.
• Dec. 7, 5:09 p.m., 11300-block 84th Ave.: Complainant reported their vehicle had been broken into sometime overnight. No damage was done to the vehicle. Items stolen include a vaporizer, a charging cord, a silver opal ring and small change.
• Dec. 8, 6:05 p.m., 10800-block 84th Ave.: Complainant reported they had a package stolen from their doorstep at approximately 3:45 p.m. The package, valued at $45, was a Christmas present to the complainant from their daughter.
• Dec. 8, 8:20 p.m., 9500-block 118th St.: Complainant reported they had been the victim of fraud, having responded to a fraudulent message purporting to be from the Canadian Revue Agency. The message indicated the complainant was to receive a refund once they provided their bank details and personal information. The complainant complied and $1,000 was withdrawn from their bank account. Subsequently, all information with the bank was changed and the bank will follow up regarding the fraud.
• Dec. 9, 9:27 a.m., 11400-block 80th Ave.: Complainant reported an overnight attempted theft of their vehicle while it was parked in their driveway. The steering column was damaged and the vehicle was rummaged through.
• Dec. 9, 2:50 p.m., 7700-block 115A St.: Complainant reported their vehicle had been entered sometime overnight and the ignition was damaged. There were no signs of forced entry. The vehicle was rummaged through but nothing was taken.
