The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. It is submitted weekly by the Delta Police Department.

The following are some of the calls the Delta Police responded to in the previous week:
• July 19, 4:45 p.m., 10300 Nordel Crt.: Sometime overnight someone gained access to the yard of a business and stole 10 new tractor trailer tires mounted on rims valued at $400 each. The file is under investigation.
• July 19, 6:30 a.m., 8700-block Delwood Dr.: Complainant arrived home just as the house alarm was sounding and found the side gate and the handle to an exterior door damaged. No access was gained to the residence.
• July 20, 1:44 p.m., 8800-block 120th St.: Complainant reported they left their unlocked bike outside while they were in a business. Witnesses observed a male riding away on the bicycle, which is described as a men’s black mountain bike.
• July 21, 8:26 a.m., 8200-block 109B St.: Complainant reported their unlocked vehicle stolen sometime overnight. A wallet containing bank and personal cards was in the vehicle. All bank cards cancelled with no activity. Information was entered into the police database.
• July 21, 1:56 p.m., 600-block Belgrave Way: Complainant reported the insurance decal stolen from the license plate of their commercial vehicle while it was parked in an open parking lot.
• July 22, 1:00 a.m., 8100-block 120th St.: Complainant reported they had been informed by their bank that cheques they had recently deposited had bounced and that they owed the bank $380. Complainant indicated they had not made the deposit and it was likely done by someone using a debit card that was lost approximately three months ago but not reported. Bank to continue investigating the fraud.
• July 23, 8:00 p.m., 11900 95th Ave.: Police investigating a break-and-enter found a similar incident had occurred at an adjacent business. The owner arrived and confirmed the chain link fence had been damaged and a scrap metal kitchen sink stolen.
• July 23, 8:01 p.m., 11900 94th Ave.: Report received of a break-and-enter at a business. The suspects cut open a chain fence at the side of the business and stole $500 worth of aluminum metal pieces. Damage to fence was approximately $500.
