The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. It is submitted weekly by the Delta Police Department.
If you see anything occurring that you believe to be suspicious, call 911 for in-progress crimes and emergencies or 604-946-4411 for other assistance. The following are some of the calls the Delta Police responded to in the previous week:
Nov. 30, 1:46 a.m., 9300-block 120th St.: A business reported the security company informed them of an alarm. When they attended the business they found the outside doors unlocked but the suspects had been unable to get through a locked interior door and had fled the scene. Nothing was stolen from the business.
Dec. 1, 1:21 p.m., 8500 120th St.: Report received of a break-and-enter in the communal storage lockers of the building sometime overnight. Several individual lockers were broken into. Investigation continues pending information from tenants as to what is missing.
Dec. 3, 8:50 p.m., 11600-block 96th Ave.: Complainant reported they had applied for a store credit card but it had not arrived. Subsequently, they learned the credit card in their name had been used at multiple locations to charge several hundred dollars.
Dec. 3, 4:09 a.m., 10900-block Brandy Dr.: Complainant reported their vehicle was entered sometime overnight and the insurance papers stolen. All car doors believed to have been locked. The insurance papers were found and returned by a Good Samaritan.
Dec. 3, 8:35 p.m., 11400 89A Ave.: Complainant reported they returned home to find their residence had been broken into through a sliding door at the back of the home. The bedroom had been ransacked and several personal papers and a cell phone were stolen. The suspects were possibly interrupted as most rooms were left untouched.
Dec. 3, 6:50 p.m., 11000 82nd Ave.: Complainant reported their residence had been broken into through the back patio door and their bedrooms ransacked. Police investigated and found the basement suite had also been broken into through a bedroom window and personal papers were stolen.
Dec. 4, 2:27 p.m., 8800-block 120th St.: A business reported a male wearing an orange traffic vest had entered the foyer, grabbed the candy machine and fled the scene in a white 2007 Ford driven by another male. Police patrol of the area proved fruitless.
Dec. 5, 3:39 a.m., 11900-block 88th St.: Complainant reported observing a male dressed in all-black attempting to smash the window of a business. Police attended and found a large rock at the scene. Suspect had fled prior to police arriving.
