The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. It is submitted weekly by the Delta Police Department. If you see anything occurring that you believe to be suspicious, call 911 for in progress crimes and emergencies or 604-946-4411 for other assistance.
The following are some of the calls the Delta Police responded to in the previous week:
• Oct. 4, 1:29 p.m., 5800-block 120th St.: Complainant reported she did not know where she had lost her wallet but several fraudulent charges had been made with her credit card in both Surrey and Delta.
• Oct. 4, 1:31 p.m., 8800-block Shepherd Way: Complainant reported his tailgate valued at $1,500 was stolen from his vehicle.
• Oct. 4, 4:54 p.m., 8800-block 116th St.: Complainant reported that sometime over the past several days her vehicle was stolen from her driveway. The vehicle is described as a white 2003 Mercedes C240. Vehicle added to the police computer database as stolen.
• Oct. 6, 8:50 a.m., 11200-block 88th Ave.: Complainant reporting that his 2002 Ford E350 was stolen from his driveway sometime overnight. The vehicle contained approximately $10,000 worth of tools. Vehicle added to the police computer database as stolen.
• Oct. 6, 4:49 p.m., 11200 92A Ave.: Complainant reported that someone had egged their house. The complainant indicated there was no damage to the home and has no idea when or why anyone would want to egg their home. Report taken for information purposes.
• Oct. 6, 5:21 p.m., 10100 Nordel Court: Complainant reported that he had parked his tractor trailer in this area on Oct. 4 and when he returned on Oct. 6 it was gone. The truck is described as black Kenworth tractor with a white trailer. The trailer contained a load of lumber and the truck contained a GPS, tools, and two Bluetooth headsets.
• Oct. 7, 3:31 p.m., 11700 88th Ave.: Complainant re- ported observing a male in the south parking lot of the senior centre attempting to steal a license plate. When the suspect saw the complainant he got spooked and fled the scene. The suspect is described as a male in his 50’s with shaggy blonde hair wearing a black windbreaker jacket.
• Oct. 7, 10:42 p.m., 11400 82nd Ave.: Report received from complainant that he had hid his bike in the bushes at the side of the road and when he returned it was gone. The bike is described as a new black BMX with a chrome plate that says “We the people of 2016 Arcade.” Bike added to the police computer database as stolen.
• Oct. 8, 4:43 p.m., 14600 84th Ave.: Complainant reported his credit cards were stolen from his vehicle sometime overnight. The credit cards have been used in several locations to make fraudulent transactions in the amount of approximately $5,000. The complainant has now cancelled all credit and bank cards and will provide police with details of the fraudulent usage.
• Oct. 8, 10:07 p.m., 11800 84A Ave.: Complainant reported he paid $60 for tickets to an event which he purchased on Craigslist but had not received the tickets. The funds were transferred to an email address by e-transfer. Investigation by police found another victim of the same fraud but was unable to trace person receiving the payment.
• Oct. 10, 5:23 p.m., 11500 84th Ave.: Suspects entered the back yard area of a vacant home and kicked in the back door. The residence was entered and stripped of approximately $2,500 worth of copper wiring.
• Oct. 10, 6:16 a.m., 11700 83B Avenue: Complainant’s tires were slashed sometime over the course of the past couple of days. The complainant provided police with video surveillance which showed three suspects approach the vehicle, slash the back tires and then flee the area. Approximate damage $500.
