A DELEGATION made up of Terrace city council members, Kitselas First Nation members and staffers is about halfway through a sales trip to China.

The group left Terrace Nov. 16 with a schedule that includes meeting with various companies in hopes of selling portions of the city’s Skeena Industrial Development Park located just south of the Northwest Regional Airport.

The delegation is in Qinhuangdao, a port city of approximately 3 million people located on China’s northern coast.

Although the industrial park is a creation of the city it is within Kitselas traditional territory and the two local governments have an agreement to share profits from land sales once expenses have been paid.

There are four Terrace representatives and four Kitselas representatives on the trip.

Terrace is represented by mayor Dave Pernarowski, councillors Lynne Christiansen, James Cordeiro and city corporate lands manager Herb Dusdal.

Kitselas chief councillor Joe Bevan, councillors Wilfred Bennett and Judy Gerow and Kitselas chief executive officer Therese Hagen make up the Kitselas portion of the delegation.
