The Terrace campus of Northwest Community College will receive $171,428 to purchase new trades training equipment to support students who are entering in-demand occupations.
Provincial government advanced education minister Andrew Wilkinson stopped by an electrical class at Northwest Community College to make this announcement along with college president Ken Burt and dean of trades at NWCC Brent Speidel.
Speidel said new equipment includes electrical training boards for electrical students and a low-bed trailer for heavy mechanic students.
The money builds on the 100 additional trades training seats at Northwest Community College announced in July 2014 and is part of BC’s Skills for Jobs Blueprint commitment of $185 million over three years for trades training infrastructure and equipment at public post-secondary institutions.
