Northwestern BC school trustee elected

Sandy Watson tops Thornhill and area polls in Jan. 9 vote

Sandy Watson is to be the new school trustee representing Thornhill and area on the Coast Mountains School District board.

She defeated Barbara Johnson and Diana Penner in a byelection held yesterday and made necessary when Gary Turner passed away suddenly last fall.

Watson will fill the remaining three years of Turner’s four-year term.

Just 73 people turned out to vote.

Unofficial results have Watson receiving 33 votes, Penner 27 and Johnson 13.

 

The official Declaration of Official By-election Results will be released tomorrow.
