A home and shop off the Trans-Canada Highway near Silvery Beach were completely destroyed Tuesday night, but the Squilax Fire Department, which was called out about 10 p.m., was able to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings. The tenant was not at home at the time and no one was injured.
