NVSS Viqueens take Zone A Champs

Northside players excel in sportsmanship and defense

Big congradulations to the NVSS Viqueens Sr. Girls team who had a stellar weekend of basketball winning the gold medal game on Feb. 24, to take the A Zone Championship.

“They had a great game against Valemount in the Championship game [on Saturday] morning taking the win with a final score or 85 – 54. They are our North Zone champions, and will be going to provincials in two weeks time. So proud of all you girls!” says Coach, Jessica Raymond, in a social media post.

The Viqueens are off to Provincials in Chilliwack March 7-10 and are currently ranked #4 ‘A’ in all of B.C. These athletes have a victory record of 18-6 this season, only losing to top three ranked ‘A’ teams; Unity Christian, Mulgrave and “AA” College Heights and provinical-bound teams Duchess Park and Smithers Secondary.

The Snr. Girls basketball team from Northside Christian School also did very well placing 5th out of 8. As shown in the results, Best Defensive Player went to Mary Gill from Northside. Northside was the most Sportsmanlike team of the tournament as well and Julia Friesen was recognised as a 2nd team Allstar.
