Oak Bay Firefighters Charitable Foundation will collect trees for the foundation’s annual Christmas Tree Recycle to start 2015.
“This year’s event would not have happened if it were not for Bartlett Tree Services who kindly donated their crew and equipment to recycle the trees over the weekend,” said firefighter Gregory Swan, executive director of the foundation. “The event usually raises between $4,000 and $5,000, with the money being split between Oak Bay’s public schools.”
Oak Bay High graduates receive bursaries for post-secondary education and both Monterey and Willows receive money for the advancement of education in their respective schools.
The tree chipping runs at the fire hall, 1703 Monterey Ave, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 3 and 4.
