An Oak Bay family is breathing a sigh of relief after an unfortunate mix-up was set straight on the weekend. A bag containing family treasures, mistakenly taken from outside a Monterey Avenue home on March 15, was returned.
The Wright family contacted the Oak Bay News when the bag of amateur paintings and a four-generations-old silver-plated chatelaine disappeared from the boulevard outside the residence. They believed that its proximity to other items being given away meant it was picked up by mistake rather than stolen. Shortly after the story ran in the Oak Bay News, the items were returned.
Kevin Wright, whose mother owns the heirlooms, thanked the “honest soul” who promptly returned them.
“We’re thrilled to have the family connection restored,” he said.
