Oceanview Community Church is hosting a fundraiser this coming weekend to help with the cost of replacing of the Aggie Hall playground.
This is the fourth Eggs Benefit run by the congregation, which in the past has raised upwards of $4,000 for two other parks (Brown Drive Kin Park and Transfer Beach playgrounds) as well as the walking bridge on Holland Creek trail.
“We’re going along with projects already on in the town to help out,”said Pastor Darin Phillips.
On Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church at 381 Davis Drive, 10 celebrity chefs including everyone from
Mayor Aaron Stone to Fire Chief Ray Delcourt will be cooking up made to order omelettes.
“It’s just great banter with the chefs back and forth,” Phillips said.
The food is by donation with all the proceeds going towards the new Aggie Hall playground.
Island Gold Eggs has donated 3,000 eggs for the fundraiser, while Save-On- Foods, Tim Hortons and McDonalds
have pitched in with bread, coffee and juice.
There will also be music and a supervised kids area.
“This is just a really fun event to welcome the community and pretty much everyone leaves with a smile on their face,” Phillips said.
