Coldstream’s official community plan is being updated with the public’s assistance.
“This OCP has not drifted or shifted too much from the current OCP,” said Michael Reiley, director of development.
Initially, there were plans for expanded riparian area development guidelines which would incorporate an entire parcel, and received considerable public outcry. But that has been scaled back to 30 metres from the high water mark.
“Riparian seems to be a big concern in the OCP,” said resident Clay Wolsey.
“My concern was just if the OCP was going to retroactively trigger repairs to the riparian.”
Reiley says the new guidelines do not impact existing circumstances and are a guideline for new development only.
The OCP is usually updated every five years but serves as a planning tool for the community over the next 20 to 25 years and beyond.
