A car knocked over a lamp standard and drove down an embankment before stopping on the railway tracks at the intersection of Bowen Road and the Island Highway Friday afternoon.
Police said the southbound car veered off the highway when its 91-year-old male driver experienced medical distress. The driver was unhurt, but was taken to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital to be checked over.
