Vernon RCMP’s targeted policing unit was spot-on with a suspected heroin trafficker.

Officers Tuesday conducted an investigation involving a local heroin drug trafficking suspect, leading officers to stop a vehicle and arrest a 32-year-old man.

“The male was suspected of operating a dial-a-dope heroin trafficking operation in the city,” said Vernon RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.

When the suspect was arrested, a search of his vehicle led to the seizure of a number of items including heroin packaged for sale, and a quantity of Canadian currency.

“A cell phone that kept ringing while the officers dealt with him was also seized,” said Molendyk.

The man appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was released on numerous conditions. He is expected to appear in Vernon Provincial Court to face charges of possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking on Feb. 20.
