Quick action by police led to a stolen vehicle being recovered in Lake Country.

On Saturday at 11:29 p.m., RCMP officers responded to the 3100 block of Reimche Road after receiving a report of a 2005 brown Jeep SUV being stolen.

“Not more than 10 minutes later, an officer, who was patrolling on Highway 97 near North Glenmore Road, spotted the suspect vehicle and followed it while calling for police back up,” said Cst. Steve Holmes.

“The vehicle pulled into a mobile home park and drove around. As it emerged from the park, it was stopped by police and the driver was ordered out of the vehicle.”

The suspect was tested on an approved alcohol screening device and he failed the test.

A 21-year-old Lake Country man is facing a charge of possession of stolen property over $5,000 and a 30-day driving prohibition.

The suspect will appear in court June 27.

“The vehicle was returned, undamaged, to its grateful owner,” said Holmes.
