Forward Liam Coughlin of the Vernon Vipers is now property of the Edmonton Oilers.
The South Boston product was taken by the Oilers in the fifth round, 130th overall, in the NHL Entry Draft Saturday at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
Coughlin rang up 18 goals and 45 points in his first season with the B.C. Hockey League Vipers. He is a 6-foot-3, 201-pounder who can play centre or left wing. He was the second BCHLer taken in the amateur lottery.
Danton Heinen, a centre/LW with the Surrey Eagles, was selected 116th by the Boston Bruins. He is a Langley product.
Victoria Grizzlies’ goalie Alec Dillon, a Nanaimo native, went to the Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings, in round five, 150th overall.
F Matt Ustaski of the Langley Rivermen was chosen by the Winnipeg Jets 192nd overall, while RW Jack Ramsey of the Penticton Vees was the third-last pick of the draft, going to the Chicago Blackhawks.
