One of the longtime DJ’s in the Okanagan has had a health set back after an operation and now a local bar is asking for help.
OK Corral manager Andy Bowie said Dave Dobie has been a DJ at the cabaret for decades. He’s donated his time for many auctions, fundraisers and is one heck of a two-stepper.
Dobie went in for colon surgery at Vernon Jubilee Hospital a few weeks ago and ended up back in the ICU unit with pneumonia this past week, said Bowie.
The OK Corral will be holding a tailgate fundraiser Aug. 12 for Dobie. Hot dogs will be available by donation and Budweiser and Bud Light will be featured with half the cost going to Dobie to help him with his bills. A silent auction will also be held.
The fundraiser starts Saturday at 6 p.m. Anyone who has donations for a silent auction is asked to drop them off at the OK Corral Beer Store.
Fundraisers are hard at this time of year with summer vacations, hot weather, summer festivals and with so many fires in the province, said Bowie.
Dobie is one of a number of staff members that has helped build the great business that the OK Corral has today, according to a OK Corral press release.
