A Penticton man died after the pickup he was driving met a logging truck on a narrow bridge on the Finlay Forest Service Road yesterday.

The 43-year-old man from Penticton was working in the Fort Ware area.

RCMP are reporting the vehicles appear to have met on the single lane bridge at the 93 km marker of the forest service road and the pick-up truck hit some concrete along the bridge, and then the logging truck trailer.

The accident took place around 12:58 p.m. on Jan. 7, and the logging truck suffered only minor damages.

RCMP are still investigating, but the road has been reopened to traffic again.

“Investigators advise there is nothing to suggest the incident is a Criminal matter at this time” stated Cst. Lesley Smith, North District media relations officer “The BC Coroner with the assistance of Mackenzie RCMP and the North District Traffic Analyst will continue to investigate this tragic incident.”
