Coors Banquet is proud to announce that Kimberley has been selected as one of the six finalists for the second annual One Horse Town contest.  Nominated by local residents, Kimberley is eligible to win a legendary country music concert experience, featuring JUNO award winner Dean Brody, and fellow Canadian Country musicians Chad Brownlee and River Town Saints.

The six town finalists include : Kimberley, British Columbia; Vermilion, Alberta; Gimli, Manitoba; Kenora, Ontario; St. Jean Port Joli, Quebec and Truro, Nova Scotia.  Canadians over the age of 19 are encouraged to head to Coorsbanquet.ca/oht to vote for their favourite of the top six towns. The town that receives the most votes by July 4, at 11:59 PM will be announced the winner of One Horse Town and will host a concert open to local residents aged 19+ from that community.

Nicole Wolff from Coors Banquet explained the criteria for a town to qualify.

“The town has to be under 50,000 people and embody the spirit of the contest. We look at home town pride, excitement to host a concert like this, overall town spirit and quality of submission,” Wolff said.

From over 2200 submissions, it was winnowed down to six, Kimberley included. Representatives from Country Music Television were in Kimberley a couple of weeks ago looking around at suitable venues for a concert this size.

The free concert would be on Friday, September 16. If Kimberley were to win, Kimberley residents would go to the website, provide a postal code for proof of residence and receive free tickets.

“It’s similar to the Hockeyville contest, only we celebrate small towns,” Wolff said. “Coors Banquet comes from Golden, Colorado, which is a small town itself.

“We’re really excited about our finalists. Thanks, Kimberley and good luck.”
