Home on Broadway Street raided on Feb. 15 where homicide occurred Jan. 31

As many as five people are facing criminal charges after firearms, opioids and methamphetamine were seized from a known drug house on Broadway Street last week.

Neighbourhood complaints about the home in the 9200-block of Broadway resulted in the seizure of the drugs, guns, ammunition and stolen property, according to Chilliwack RCMP.

And while police will not confirm the exact address, the seizures appear to have taken place at 9291 Broadway, the house where a man was killed on Jan. 31.

Cody Isaacson, 28, was gunned down in what police called a targeted killing in the early hours on Jan. 31 at the notorious house at Broadway Street and Cedar Avenue.

Neighbours complained the illegal activity continued as soon as the RCMP’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) left the scene.

The Progress was on the scene on Feb. 15 when a large police presence descended on the house.

VideoFeb15Drugs believed to be methamphetamine and drug trafficking paraphernalia were seized by police during their search. Five people in the residence were taken into custody and later released by RCMP.

“The execution of the search warrant on Feb. 15 follows a search conducted by the RCMP in January, 2018,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Mike Rail said.

A significant amount of drugs, believed to be opioids, and methamphetamine, along with firearms, ammunition and property linked to thefts from businesses in Chilliwack were seized by police on Jan. 16.

Three individuals in the residence were taken into custody on unrelated warrants of arrest.

RCMP investigators will be submitting all circumstances of the investigation in a report to Crown Counsel for their assessment of CDSA and criminal charges.

Cpl. Rail encouraged residents to report unusual activity at known drug houses to police.

“Alert residents reporting unusual activity in their neighbourhood to the RCMP was key to our investigations,” he said. ” The RCMP work together with citizens to keep our neighbourhoods safe from drugs and violence.”
