About 700 people ran in near-perfect conditions for Sunday’s Pioneer 8K race.
The race started and finished at the Saanich Fairgrounds, where more than 100 spectators cheered on the runners. There was no win and barely any rain as the athletes made the eight-kilometre run in Central Saanich.
Steve Osaduik was first to cross the finish line, several seconds ahead of the second-place finisher, Jim Finlayson. Lucy Smith was the first woman to finish the race.
