The suspect involved in the case of a stolen outhouse from a Lumby sawmill has been sentenced to jail.
Provincial court judge Jim Threlfall sentenced Robert Andel, 54, of Vancouver, to nine months in jail for two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000.
A log outhouse valued at $1,900 was reported stolen from Rouck Brothers Sawmill on Highway 6 near Lumby Sept. 26.
In October, Lumby RCMP received word that the outhouse was located on a Lavington property in the 6700 block of Highway 6.
As police arrived on the scene to check out the outhouse, a man was located in a pick-up truck and attempted to flee from police.
He was arrested after a short chase.
Police determined the pick-up had been stolen from Richmond in February, and the suspect was the focus of an arrest warrant for a November 2009 robbery in Kelowna.
The suspect had been living, with permission, on the Lavington property, but police believed the 35-foot holiday trailer he was residing in may have been stolen.
A 25-foot storage trailer and a flat-deck trailer were also on the Lavington site.
