Over $17,000 to support a Vanderhoof newborn’s surgery were gathered within a day through an online crowdfunding campaign.
On Jan. 10, the online fundraiser hosted by gofundme was created with a $10,000-goal to support baby Brielle Gouliquer’s parents Darren and Cecilia in staying with Brielle at BC Children’s Hospital since her birth on Dec. 28, 2016.
At birth, Brielle was diagnosed with Hirschsprung disease, which means her bowel nerves were missing and she wasn’t able to push waste for elimination. Her surgery took place on Jan. 13.
By press time, 184 people contributed $20,600 to the campaign, which has been shared 575 times on Facebook.
