Overdue summer arrives in Vernon

The rain is going away, and although it might come back another day, summer is finally on its way

The rain is going away, and although it might come back another day, summer is finally on its way.

“It looks really quite promising,” said Armel Castellan, Environment and Climate Change Canada meteorologist.

July has been abnormally wet, and cooler, following several weeks of a pattern of cold flows.

“Luckily the pattern is changing and summer is on its way,” said Castellan.

With the sun comes the rise of the mercury, which has been sitting lower than normal for this time of year.

“Those numbers should bounce back,” said Castellan. “I would expect now for the next couple weeks that the clouds will remain very minimal and the winds will remain very minimal.”

There is a slight chance of rain for Friday, and looking at the longer term forecast July 26-28 could see showers.

But onward towards the end of the month and early August temperatures are expected to remain above 30, said Castellan as the warmer days and cooler nights of summer roll in.
