McLean Mill National Historic Site has been a busy place this winter as volunteers overhaul several projects around the heritage site.
As with many things that are old and made out of wood, the decking to the steam sawmill needs to be replaced, and large 6×6-inch posts supporting the verandah at the visitors’ centre were rotting and needed to be replaced.
The last time the deck was restored was in the 1990s, mill manager Neil Malbon said.
And the visitors’ centre was built adjacent to the protected heritage site in time for opening day in 2000.
