A full day of fun for everyone is springing into Oyama.

The Oyama Fun Day gets underway Sunday, with the fun beginning at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast, silent auction and the famous Peep Peep Poop Coop contest.

“The annual event sponsored by the Oyama Community Club is a tribute to the spirit of Oyama,” said Deb Butler, one of the organizers. “With the help of many volunteers the Oyama Community Club offers a jam-packed day of fun for families.”

The parade starts at 11 a.m. at the Oyama General Store, finishing at Oyama Traditional School. Oyama Road will be closed (from Oyama General Store to Oyama Traditional School) from 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. for the parade. Everyone is invited to take part, including kids who want to decorate their bikes and ride the route. Entrants will gather beside the Oyama General Store at 10 a.m.

“The afternoon activities get underway with some good old-fashioned games of tug-of-war, sack races, ice cream eating contest and egg toss. The youngsters are kept entertained for the rest of the afternoon with the Kids Games Pavilion, DLC Bounce Zone, Lake Country Agility Mutts, SECA Watersport Demo, Sportball and lots of other community-sponsored activities,” said Butler.

There is also the Fireman’s Burger Burn, farmer’s market and artisans, The Lake Country Big Band, Bake Shoppe, Oyama Legion open house and more food and fun for everyone.

For more information or to participate in the parade, activities or farmer’s market, or to volunteer contact Deb Butler 250-548-3255 or debbutler@shaw.ca

“Come out and enjoy the day,” said Butler.
