A Kelowna man is in hospital after he was struck by a vehicle just before noon Monday.
The 53-year-old man was taken to hospital.
The Kelowna RCMP received a report of a pedestrian collision on Harvey Avenue near Ethel Street, March 24 at 11:45 a.m.
“Witness reported seeing a man running across the highway when he was struck by a car in the eastbound left-hand turning lane,” said Const. Kris Clark.
“Traffic had mostly slowed or stopped for a red light but the turning lane was still flowing. As the man exited from between vehicles he ran into the passenger side of a slow-moving Chevy Optra, his head striking the windshield. (He) was rushed to hospital with apparent non-life threatening injuries.”
No charges have yet been laid and the investigation is ongoing.
Police urge pedestrians to only use designated crosswalks or intersections and to make eye contact with drivers before crossing.
Never assume that drivers see you.
