A man is nursing a broken arm and jaw and a woman is suffering from minor injuries after being struck by a car police believe may have been driven by a woman who was drinking.

The pair of 23-year-olds from Surrey were found lying on the grass at a bus stop at 88 Avenue and 146 Street Friday just before 6 p.m.

A car struck a lamp standard, then hit the couple and a bench at the bus stop.

The female driver, a 46-year-old from Surrey, then took off, driving her car two blocks away, parking it, and leaving on foot.

However, a woman who had witnessed the accident followed the driver while in contact with 911.

The driver was given a breathalyzer at the scene and may face charges of impaired driving.

The two people who were hit by the car were treated at hospital and released.
