Despite some frigid temperatures being forecast, the community is urged to brave the elements for an annual tradition Saturday.
The Vernon Winter Carnival parade is all set to start Saturday at noon, travelling south down 27th Street (starting at 39th Avenue), going down 30th Avenue and then heading north along 31st Street.
More than 110 entries will take part in the Superhero-themed event.
But those taking in the action are reminded to bundle up.
It won’t be the coldest parade on record, but temperatures are expected to be below average for this time of year.
Environment Canada is calling for lows around -13, a 60 per cent chance of flurries and a high of -8 for parade day. Normals for this time of year generally fall between highs of 2 and lows of -4.
Following the parade, the public is invited to take in Bandarama at the Vernon Recreation Complex at 2 p.m.
There are hosts of other events filling the 54th annual Carnival schedule of events, which takes place until Feb. 16.
A few events, such as the Medieval Madness and Snowshoe Adventures, are already sold out.
