There is an expanded focus on parks at the City of Vernon.

Kendra Kryszak has been hired as the city’s parks planner.

“The most intriguing part about this position was knowing that a new parks master plan is being established,” she said.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to review the parks inventory, be involved with the public consultation and to work with all parties to come up with recommendations and an implementation process that will benefit the city.”

A draft of the parks master plan is expected to be presented to city council Nov. 10.

Kryszak has a bachelor of landscape architecture degree from the University of Guelph and she has worked for Oshawa, Ont., Saskatoon, Sask. and St. John’s, Nfld.
