Parksville businesses still cleaning up after Sept. 3 story

The Legion's lounge is still closed and could be for another month or more, but they have re-started service in their hall

The record breaking 33 mm rain in 18 minutes Parksville received Sept. 3 is still being felt as stores continue to re-open after drying out and cleaning up.

The Legion’s lounge is still closed and could be for another month or more, but they have re-started service in their hall which escaped the couple inches of standing water the back of the building got.

The temporary lounge in the hall opens at 1 p.m. Sundays and 11 a.m. every other day and closes at different times each evening ranging from 6 Monday to 11 Wednesday, Friday and Saturdays when there’s a dance.

They are still running bingo every Monday to Friday evening as usual. Check their facebook page (Br49 Mt Arrowsmith) or stop in for one of their calendars for details on the many events still taking place.

Rumours of a “cash mob” to help re-open Stedmans may have been premature as the store isn’t sure when they will re-open yet, but are hoping for soon after Thanksgiving.’
