A resident of Gaetjen Street in Parksville interrupted a break and enter last week, according to Oceanside RCMP.
On April 17, the Parksville resident stopped by the Oceanside RCMP detachment to report a suspicious occurrence that had happened the previous day (April 16).
The homeowner, according to an RCMP news release, had caught two people on his property, behind a locked gated area.
“When confronted about being on the property, the men said they had come up from the beach (waterfront property) and found themselves stuck behind the gate looking for a way out.”
RCMP said one of the males caught on the property dropped an Amazon speaker, which has now been seized by police, adding that “it was later determined that one of the males has been in the crawlspace of the residence, which is accessed from the exterior.”
Oceanside RCMP said there have been several break and entries to sheds and outbuildings in the area, and another break and enter on Gaetjen Street was reported the same day.
The release stated residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to police.
If anyone is missing an Amazon home speaker, they are asked to contact the Oceanside RCMP at 250-248-6111.
