The City of Parksville has announced a partial closure of Corfield Street at Highway 19A from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28.

The closure of the northbound lane of Corfield is required to allow the contractor to install a section of sanitary sewer main in front of the main entrance to the post office near the intersection at Highway 19A, the city stated in a news release Thursday, March 22.

The southbound lane of Corfield Street will remain open to motorists turning from Highway 19A or crossing the highway from Community Park, and both entrances to the Corfield Plaza shopping centre will remain open to traffic travelling either direction on Corfield, the release stated.

The lane closure will block access to the Corfield Street entrance to the post office, which may be accessed from Highway 19A during the closure. There will be no access to Highway 19A for northbound traffic on Corfield.

Traffic detour signage will be placed at Jensen Avenue East and Corfield to advise motorists of the restricted access to Highway 19A, and traffic management will be located to assist motorists through the construction zone.
